Project Knowledge

Connect Markdown or Obsidian-compatible notes so Vicode can answer from your own sources.

Download Windows beta

Project Knowledge lets Vicode answer from your own notes. Point it at a folder of Markdown files — an Obsidian vault works — and Vicode indexes them locally.

Connect a folder

  1. Open Vicode settings.
  2. Choose a Project Knowledge folder.
  3. Let Vicode index the Markdown files.

Your files stay where they are; the index is just a local cache.

How it is used

  • When you ask something, Vicode pulls in the few notes that matter and cites them.
  • The thread shows which notes were used.
  • Headings, filenames, tags, frontmatter, and [[wikilinks]] all help Vicode find the right notes.

Works best on focused folders

Project Knowledge is strongest when the folder is focused: project docs, specs, research notes, or a specific topic. A huge unsorted vault makes the results noisier.

Your files stay under your control

Vicode reads your notes; it does not write to them on its own. Anything it wants to create or change goes through the normal approvals.
